March 19th, 2018 marked our 4 year anniversary as a band and Andrew Keith Spaulding’s bday. This year we celebrated by playing a live set at Audiotree‘s beautiful studio in Chicago!
PopRally is rebooting Club 57, the beloved Downtown D.I.Y. venue and proving ground for Klaus Nomi, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and many more. In MoMA’s underground theater No Wave is alive and well, as PILL debuts songs from their new EP. Come early and stick around after the show to snip clips and photocopy collages with Endless Editions while Lizzi Bougatsos spins tremendous tracks.
Special thanks to Hillary Reeves!
DJ Lizzi Bougatsos (Gang Gang Dance)
Admission ($20) includes live music, DJ set, xerographic art-making, open bar, and access to the exhibition Club 57: Film, Performance, and Art in the East Village, 1978–1983.
NEW Live 45 on Third Man Records! Recorded March 3, 2017. Special Thanks to Gil & Adam at First Date Touring.
Hot on the heels of a groovy and unglued no-wave full-length on well-lauded Mexican Summer, Pill rolled into the illustrious Blue Room in Nashville, TN to play a show and use a couple recorded tracks for a live 7″. In fact, sax player Ben Jaffe was celebrating his birthday that night, and, fueled by Third Man hospitality and tequila, he played some of the most out there horn the band had seen in their time together. These recordings fully capture that energy.
The A-side “Afraid of the Mirror” you’ve gotta hear to believe. While the eponymous mantra drills into your head, the equally churning upfront bass line is sewn into an expert-level percussive fracas. Not for beginners. “T.V. Wedding” is an downhill, apocalyptic kraut jam driven forward by pulsating saxophone improvisation taking lead all over the track.
